Take part in this exciting and pioneering project!

You are cordially invited to participate in the first ever assessment of the available taxonomic expertise about insects in Europe. This infographic presents how we collect the necessary data for this project.

Consortium

The consortium behind this project is uniquely positioned to succeed in this task:

CETAF (Consortium of European Taxonomic Facilities) is the European organization of Natural History Museums, Botanic Gardens and Research Centers with their associated natural science collections and research expertise. CETAF represents the largest taxonomic community in Europe through its membership network.

IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) has the World’s leading expertise on species Red List assessments and the only globally accepted methodology for measuring the risk of species extinction. IUCN provides the methodological and brand connection to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species TM framework and access to the European and global insect taxonomic community through the IUCN Species Survival Commission Invertebrate Conservation Committee (IUCN/SSC/ICC).

Pensoft (Pensoft Publishers Ltd.) acting as the Group leader, is responsible for contract management, liaison with the Commission and - through its technological experience and technical capabilities rooted in science - provides the analytical power to carry out the data compilation and analysis necessary for the required assessment.
